As an avid NBA fan I have watched with great interest firstly the great increase in Australian guys making it to the NBA and secondly their increased success at the top level.

That’s really all this blog is about. Me sharing my love and appreciation for the guys that are playing the great game at the top level.

At the time of writing there is only one Australian left battling it out in the NBA playoffs – Patty Mills. Nonetheless he gives us a great deal of excitement! In the most recent game against Houston he scored 20 points and almost banked in a game winning three-pointer! Literally, just a second to late.

We’ve said goodbye to the dogged defending and pass happy Joe Ingles and Dante Exum of the Utah Jazz, who were swept aside by the fast conquering Golden State Warriors. Joe Ingles particularly excelled this playoffs as first a thorn in the side of the Memphis Grizzlies and then the Warriors. The Jazz have come to rely on his dead-eye left handed, knock down threes, busy hands on defence and smart passing, particularly in the pick and roll with ‘The Stifle Tower’ Rudy Gobert.

The Milwaukee Bucks promoted themselves as a team to watch in the future. Both Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker represented Australia fully when given minutes on the court. Thon looks like a draft steal and a player to watch in the future.

Lets see how long Patty and his Spurs can keep their title race going for. To people reading out there, follow me, follow the Aussies and keep coming back! We all know our Aussie ballers will be coming back hard next year and we are all no doubt looking forward to seeing a healthy and fit Ben Simmons take the league by storm next year. Kentucky big Isaac Humphries will be entering the 2017 draft, so we eagerly await to see if he gets picked up.
